STADIUM ŠUBIĆEVAC
The construction of the “Rade Končar” complex, which also included a football field, light athletic track, auxiliary tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, a dressing room structure, and concrete stands, began at the start of 1946. The location of this project was “Šubievac,” i.e., the spot where 26 Dalmatian fighters commanded by Rade Končar were shot by the Italian occupier on May 22, 1942.
Several thousands of organizations such as The national Front, The People’s Youth, and Ibenik sports organization members played an active role in the stadium’s 2-year-long initial stage of the construction. Throughout this period, a challenging and harsh field was cleared, a football field was formed, a concrete fence wall was put in place, and a portion of concrete stands with 640 seats was completed.
On May 1, 1948, the „Rade Končar” stadium officialy opened.
Work on the renovation of the stadium continued in 1951 and then in 1955, when the drainage of the playground was carried out. In addition, a sewage network and hydrants were installed, and the stands for another 1360 seats were expanded. The Yugoslavian Football Federation issued an order in 1958 to construct an athletic track, fences, and auxiliary fields. The 1958–1959 campaign saw the completion of such project.
During the MIS in 1979, the stadium had significant modifications. Following the construction of the administration building and east grandstand, the west grandstand received a cover. Seats were installed in the west on the day of the Croatian young team’s presence (2000). In May 2007, the scoreboard was installed.
In 2016, an auxiliary football field with artificial turf was built next to the main playground. 4 years later, by the decision of HNS, the stadium in Šubićevac was awarded the hosting of the finals of the Croatian Cup.
In 2021, by the decision of the Croatian Football Federation, the stadium in Šubićevac received a hybrid lawn.
